I've a curious problem that has left me scratching my head.
My shower pump (Stuart Turner Monsoon 3 twin) occasionally won't start. Putting a magnet on the reed switch the pump will hum, but won't move, almost like it is jammed.
If I remove the supply pipes from the pump, a few goes on the reed switch and the pump will start working. I've also found that if I simply shut the supply stop cocks this produces the same effect i.e. the pump will work again. When I reconnect the supply pipes or open the valve, the pump will start normally and continue working until the next day or so.
It seems to be worse when the water heating is on.
Anyone seen this before?
