Shower trap… does this look right?

Hello all. Could you advise me on this please? I moved into a new build recently. 14 showers later the water has stopped draining away. In my last house the shower had a ‘trap’ but this one is literally a big silver cap sitting over a hole. It looks unfinished. I have very short hair but my wife has shoulder-length hair: I have not had to remove any hair from the cap so I’m assuming they are just washing down. Then again, being a brand new house, there could have been an underlying issue. The assistant site manager told me to use drain unblocked every 2 weeks one completion day, which worried me. :-/
Thank you

Ridiculous! Get them back to fix it properly. My bathroom was done 40 years ago, there has never been an issue or a need to clear it's drainage out. Kitchen we occasionally use bleach, but only to stop the smells.

I’ve not long had a bathroom fitted and had this waste, slow drainage of water.

Could I put a couple of holes in the visible ‘pipe’ when lifting the chrome top to aid drainage?

First thing, rude and unwise to hijack a thread.
Second, have you tried chucking a bucket of water down the drain with the innards removed? Very likely your new drain has insufficient fall or too small for the run length, putting holes in that bit will just result in odours coming back up the pipe

I fitted one of these not long ago and they're fool proof.
There's either debris in the pipe as others said, or worse, the waste pipe hasn't got the correct fall.

Apologies, most forums would rather tag along to an existing thread rather than create new ones with very similar topics.

The drain was flowing fine for the first few months, but some drain unblock hasn’t resolved the issue and it’s cumbersome to poke things down too.

When you say inwards removed ?

Innards. Guts. Every removable thing you can find under the silver cap, that you can remove with your fingers or simple tools.

You temporarily remove the odour-stop device (the thing that prevent sewer air blowing into your home), you flush a large amount of water down the resulting hole, you clean the bits you've removed and reassemble. If a more determined blockage has occurred, such as might happen with hair getting caught on ragged pipe edges caused by using a rough saw to cut pipe lengths and not removing the swarf, then you might have to get a bit more mechanical with it; metal hook fashioned from a coat hanger etc

Thank you, I wasn’t sure how to remove the odour stop device, it’s certainly not obvious, will try and find some guides.
