Hey I have a couple of shower traps that have come with an adapter any one seen these before. The larger diameter end doesn't fit in to an 1.5 inch fitting which I thought it might.

seems as if the small end is to connect to the compression nut of the trap. But the other end wont fit a 1.5 inch fitting.

I have come across these adapters before. They don't fit anything. Throw them away and buy a new one.

Could well be but why would they send this with the trap?

I think its for connecting chrome plated brass waste compression fitting to solvent weld plastic.

Problem is its a struggle to get 1.5 pipe in to the trap compression nut. The adapter is bit smaller than 1.5 inch.

Exactly. I really don't see the point of them. Why they can't make it to fit a 40mm pipe I don't know. There are other fast drain traps available that fit a 40mm pipe.

I like the use of a decimal point on a imperial measurement 1.5 inch bit like 1 1/2 Meter. Sorry very bored on the crapper :)

I'll probably look at getting another trap are all shower traps universal, as in they'll fit any try?

The 40mm solvent weld pipe glues inside the large end of the adapter. Its a socket

Push fit waste is smaller (it will fit straight in the trap). The solvent weld is bigger (therefor the adaptor takes the down to push fit size). This is so instead of having a push fit waste rattling around inside a socket that fits solvent weld the socket will be a tight fit for both pipe types.
