Shower trap Size

Hi
I am in the process of fitting a new shower base, and need to fit a new trap. The hole in the shower base it 60mm, however I am struggling to find a 60mm trap as they seem to be 40,50,72mm does this refer to the depth of the trap or the actual hole diameter the trap is designed to fit into?
