We’ve had a double shower tray in the bathroom for a number of years and recently discovered that a small leak in the corner (where the tray meets the cubicle) has been leaking to the extent that the floor had literally rotten away to nothing (I put my hand through it). The floor is being made good, but I’m after some advice on re-fitting the cubicle.

Do I first need to seal the tray, and then once the silicone is dry fit and seal the cubicle?

Or do I need to seal the tray and then fit and seal the cubicle while the silicone around the tray is still “wet”?

I’m aware that I need to seal the cubicle on the outside rather than in the shower, so just wondered what was best.

Also… what’s the best silicone to use? I bought a fairly expensive one last time and it went black fairly quickly to the one the builder used.

Double shower tray? Not sure what that is?

You would always seal the tray to the wall covering first , once that's set then you can trim a little out where the wall channel will be and then fit the wall channel. Use a little bead of silicone in behind the wall channel with a little extra at the bottom just to seal it and stop capillary action downwards.

Thanks. Sorry probably the wrong terminology. I meant a rectangular shower tray. Double shower tray sounds a bit dodgy in hindsight
