Evening all,

I have finally ripped out my old tiles and shower area (U shaped) and plan on replacing the tiles with cement board and shower panels, my existing shower tray is about 9 inches from the floor so quite a step up, what determines how low I can install the new tray please? I can remove flooring if needed to accommodate the plug hole (is it called a trap?) the wall boards are tall enough for the lower height of the tray if needed.

Thanks.

Can the plug hole be installed in any orientation? If I spin the rectangular tray around it will be closer to the pipe it runs into, how far does the fall need to be please?

When it comes to showers, maximise the pipe size and fall and minimise the length of run, it will help avoid drainage issues in the future and ensure you get the maximum outflow through the trap.

Fall can be anywhere between 18mm and 90mm per/m, somewhere in the middle is ideal and promotes self cleaning.
