Hi All.

I’m trying to install an exposed traditional shower valve at 150mm centres.

Problem i am having is when I tighten the nut on the valve if comes forward of the cover plate leaving the cover plate loose of the wall. Does this mean I need to cut more pipe?

I don’t have any instructions so wondering if I’m doing something wrong here or safe to cut more pipe. Pics to show how much pipe I have left.

OK, so the length of the pipe plus the insert needs to be the same as that raised ridge (stop) inside the inlets plus a little . You may also find that the JG superseal inserts may be stopping the pipe going in all the way. Try one insert on it's own and see if it fits in fully to the stop.

Don't know why it's pulling the mounting plate off the wall though unless the nut and olives have already been tightened up and won't move now.

As Madrab says, you shouldn't use Superseal inserts with compression fittings. Use the plain inserts (Screwfix item 64318) instead.

I had no idea there was another type of inserts. I will get these. What’s the difference btw? The super seal appears to reach the stop in the inlet but I will check again.

1. The head of the insert is larger to accommodate the extra O ring.
2. The other O ring can prevent the olive of the compression fitting from sealing properly.
