I have a Valliant Ecotec combi boiler in my 2 level flat with 1 bathroom, which is installed in the kitchen. The bathroom is upstairs and the shower is fed by the boiler for the hot water, and by a cold water tank with a pump.

Unfortunately at the temperature (through a mixer) that we have the shower the pump is close to cut-out, so the shower either ends up being too hot, or the pump comes into play and produces too much cold water.

Without having to install a storage heater just for the shower, is there a way of heating the water between the pump and the shower? Maybe something like the electric showers?

Really what we what is the hot water for the shower to be from the boiler but the cold water to be heated up, so that the pump can operate at normal levels

why not feed the cold from the mains and do away with the pump?

this will give equal pressures

You may want to get a reliable RGI in to check over your whole system; sticking a combi in and leaving the cold in the batroom connected to the tank is a really poor job. Who knows what else the guy has messed up. One typical thing would be that he did not clean the system, which is going to cost you a lot of money if you leave it until it is too late.
The (only) solution to your problems is to get rid of the tank and connect all the cold taps, including the shower, to the mains. That will also mean you can safely drink the water from all the taps and not just from the kitchen.
Not a big job in most cases.
