Side extension gable end inner block skin

Hi All .building an extension myself and had some help getting to first floor the builders put down a wood wall plate then joists ontop. Then blocked on the plate up to top. Not seen this before. Inner block work sitting on wood

I definitely have brickwork sitting on wooden joists and lintels in my house, and it has been holding strong since 1890!

No it definitely isn't right and should be changed asap.

Sorry, I was being flippant to that particular statement - 'not seen blockwork sitting on wood'

The OP's situation definitely isn't right!
The LABC case matches quite well.

Should i cut out a small section of wall plate
A bit at a time and replace with block. So block surrounding joist all the way around

Yes sorry bit at a time, unless you fancy rebuilding the whole wall.
