Hi
Quick question. Where a side elevation of house faces the front elevation of another (as in a v small culdesac ) can a neighbour extend the side elevation to joining boundaries- the result would be blocking half of the neighbouring property’s front elevation off & also giving the already small front garden that runs parallel along front of house (2 Mtrs wide at most ) a 1 story high wall (result like alleyway) - effectively Heming in & overpowering the property.
Worried - thank you

Hi
It is single storey, although it will still run entirely along parrallel to my front door & windows so will completely block my view with a wall . My house has a window , door, window to front elevation (typically the way a child would draw one) if the new side extension was brought to the front of my neighbours front elevation it would completely block out 50% of the ground floor of mine. If he were to put the side extension on but leave it set back, it would not cover my front windows or door. I cannot find any cases, nor any info on anyone building directly at the front of someone’s property & replacing what is asmall garden wall at the front with the side of their house instead

Without seeing a rough plan of the two properties it's difficult to say. But if I read it correctly, what your neighbour is proposing IS permitted development unfortunately. The permitted development rules concerning single-storey extensions only take into account the boundaries of the host property, regardless of how an extension might relate to adjoining buildings.
You say your frontage is window/door/window; has it had a side extension at some time, as the layout you describe seems unusual for a cul-de-sac.

Hi
Yes it has had a 2 storey extension to the side nearly 50 years ago shortly after the property was built. Though we don’t overlap the neighbours property, the land/boundaries joining the properties runs at a diagonal very close to my front yet a distance from his side. With him proposing to built on and along the boundary from back to front will leave a tall alleyway along a side of one of my my back garden fences right through to over my front window & door, I will post a pic. Quite concerned that this will nick considerable value of mine & probably my adjoining neighbours property as the overall vue will result in looking like all 3 properties are ajoined in th corner. Can never imagine should I come to sell this who would buy it with another property in front of its windows :(
