Siemens washing machine. Drum not turning

Hi folks
We have a reasonably old siemens that has decided not to spin/turn/move the drum.
The machine will fill with water OK and pump out just fine.
Carbon b(r)ushes were recently replaced and all looks ok with them. No lose wires visible to the motor.
The drum turns freely and there appears to be no obstructions.
Any pointers with what to check next?

Did you check to see if the brushes move freely in their holders & have good contact with the commutator? Sometimes a light sandpapering is needed as the brushes can the stick in their holders. Also check if the belt is in place. Post the model & "E" number if you don't get the issue resolved.

Some Siemans and Bosch machines have thermal fuses on the motor which can blow (some are hard to see or get to). They are usually square shaped with 2 wires on them and near the connector block somewhere (occasionally in the end of the motor casing)

For some strange reason I have found these replacement thermal fuses very difficult to track down. However there is a workaround that might save the cost of a new motor if this turns out to be your issue (providing of course that the motor windings are good): http://shop.ukwhitegoods.co.uk/Wash...01600+Hotpoint+GDA+Motor+Thermal+Cut+Out.html With a little patience & nifty soldering this little chap does the trick, even if it says Hotpoint on the packet it comes in...

Have you checked the internal fuse for continuity? ie is it open circuit?
It is also worth checking the connector block for continuity back to the main PCB -the connector block is not very good imho and a wire can easily come adrift.
Worth looking at if the motor appears good with resistances across the windings,brushes and thermal cut out........

Hi folks
Well thanks for the tips. Took the machine apart again and had a hard look at the motor. Brushes move OK and make good contact, so that wasn't the issue. Fuse looked OK and checked out as far as resistance goes, appeared to be strong contact throughout. Gave the motor a brush-up and put it back. Also renewed the connections in the connector block - looked a bit suspect to me. Put it all back together and hey presto!

good to know you solved the problem!

As a matter of interest does anyone know the thermal fuse spec for the Bosch motor....just had one go oc due to PCB failure.
Would like to repair the motor but would like to know the temp spec of the thermal fuse if possible......anyone?
