Silicone outside or inside (or both)?

Hi everyone,

I have a leak in my campervan shower in the door area. While showering, the floor on the outside gets wet and I want to prevent that by applying some silicone.
The situation looks like in the provided images.

From what I can see, the water leaks mostly through the sides of the guiding rail. After showering, there often is water inside of that rail and I assume it runs down the inner wall into the guide rail and then out onto the floor. It could also run under the rail though. Hard to say.

My immediate intuition is to apply the silicone on the outside of the rail (outside of the shower), both at the sides and over the whole length. But maybe the inside is the right way to go to prevent the water from even getting into the rail area?! This would likely not help with water running down the door though which should not be that much because of the shower curtain though.

Better safe than sorry though so i thought I ask :)

Thank you very much in advance for any hints

Best

Lukas

You need to leave the inside unsealed so that any water spraying into the frame can escape inwards to the shower tray. As per all manufacturers instructions I've ever seen.
