Hi, we are in the process of having external wall insulation installed and finished with a silicone render on top

The installers seem to be doing a good job and making fast progress -

We've opted for 30mm insulation on the front of the house to keep the general aesthetic and 50mm round the side and back

Just have a few questions:

- Does 30mm provide any significant thermal insulation benefit?
- If the scratch render is applied, (its going on right now and almost complete) but it starts raining should the render be left to dry out as it gets wet for a longer period of time before the top silicone coat is applied?

They haven't given an indication yet of when they plan to finish all the external works but I'm just concerned in case the render is applied too soon and ruins the finish or leads to cracking etc.

Many thanks
