Silicone sealant

I have just finished tiling and want to put a bead of silicone above the last tile( I only tiled half wall height and has a border)

How do you go about this without getting silicone everywhere including the dog. Is there a special tool to smooth over the silicone to get that perfect finish?

its called a wet finger (honest)

bit of washing up liquid on the finger helps no end

Also, don't forget to put masking tape above and below where you want to seal, gun it on, run along with your wet finger, then peel off the tape, you will not only have a smooth finish, it will only be where you want it!!
