My heating normally comes on around 6am, about 30 mins before my alarm so the house isnt like the antartic when I get out of bed..
Well I didnt need an alarm clock this morning, I woke up to BANG, BANG, BANG, CRASH, WURRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR and a cold house
After initially jumping about two foot above the bed and running down stairs with a baseball bat to confront what I thought was an intruder I discovered it was the boiler that had woken me up.
Anyway the boiler went silent (except for the timer ticking away).. So I turned on the hot water, the solenoid in-side clicked but the pump & fan didnt fire up... So I swithed it off at the mains and back on again and sure enough the pump fired for a few seconds (like it normally does, to build pressure I assume?)..
So I tried the hot water again, on came the pump, on came the gas, but after about 10 seconds all hell broke lose, the boiler was making rattling and banging noises and it cut out again..
I'm no boiler expert (by far) but it sounds to me like the fan has died?
Any ideas?
Cheers!
