Help! I have a Sime Super 90 Plus Combi Boiler and for the past 2 months have had heating but no hot water. The majority of the heating engineers I have phoned have no knowledge of these boilers, although someone is coming on Friday to have a look. As a lone parent, I need to keep costs down so if anyone can provide any information, I would be SOOOO grateful!
Thanks

it sounds like a diverter valve problem. there's a rubber diaphragm inside the valve that, if split won't allow the water to switch on.
turn the selector switch on the boiler to hw only and switch on a hot tap. does the boiler attempt to work (any noises at all, apart from water running through it)

the boilers announcement wasn't for you it's been there a short while.
it basically covers the forum legally if some diy eedyut blows himself to kingdom come. diy gas work isn't illegal, it's just not recommended unless you know what you're doing.

Thanks for that.
If hw only on still no hot water. (Boo hoo!) And no, boiler does nothing.
Bloke coming on Friday said something about a diaphragm, but didn't think we should be talking about contraception when I haven't even met him!!

the best form of contraception is an ugly auld gas fitter.

Makes a noise as if the gas is ready but doesn't ignite. Does that make sense?????

if it starts to make noises when you switch on your hot tap then the diaphragm is probably alright and the fault is furthur down the sequence.
if the bloke coming out mentioned the diaphragm then it sound like he's more of a clue that the others you've spoken to.

If not ugly then backup is provided by:

Yep :D:

Hermione1968, the assumption that your query triggered the BOILERS -Please read announcement? - it's ok, it didn't. The announcement was made several days before your first post. Er... I suppose it could indicate the clairvoyant abilities of Admin :). There are lots of queries that make it look like the person asking is itching to get their boiler apart so they can fix it, (I doubt they are meant like this) and Admin are possibly fearing litigation if someone blows themselves up because they do things they don't understand. (I don't understand either :) )

Thanks for that
Can I ask why you up so early??!!
You either have new born babies or been out all nite on the p--s!!!!!!!

we all like to get up early to help the likes of you before we go to the drudgery of the heating engineers life. we're also trying to get to the jobs before another stock broker becomes a qualified gas fitter.

No babies (not that live here anyway, or that I'm aware of anywhere else) and not drinking.....but wait a mo, 5:38am isn't early...:)

hermione click the profile button on the top on the pages and change your timezone to gmt + 1hour. clocks went forward.

Your life might be drudgery, mine's not.

Now, where's that portfolio that needs working on? ;)

Hello again :D
Just thought you might want to know that Pete said it's the diaphragm. He's getting the part and coming back Thursday. Charging me £60 which I thought was reasonable (?).
Thanks anyway guys
hermione ;)
