Hi Guys,

I'm struggling to fit a dimmer in my lounge, I've done it before in other rooms no problem but this rooms wiring makes no sense to me (its a new build). There's two lights running off one swtich. No other switches interfere, so its a basic 1gang switch controlling 2 lights together.

It's confusing as there's 3 browns currently connected. 1 in L1, 2 in L2 and L3 left empty. However, as you can see, my new dimmer has L1, no L2 (its got no connector or tightening screw) and then one called 'C'.

I've photo'd the existing switch wiring but I cant understand how the two switches compare in terms of wiring in the new one. Can anybody help?

Thank you in advance!

that works fine thanks. There is a very quiet slight buzzing noise when the dimmer is on that you can only hear if you put your ear next to the switch - Ive not noticed this before, is that normal?

I'd also add that if no screw in L2 = Cheap switch, no quality control, hence buzzing. Need to buy something decent matey.

Edit: Bloody spell check!!
