Hi,
I am not super confident at DIY, mostly in terms of not knowing the "best approach" to achieve what I want... however when I do know, I am perfectly capable of executing it
Having said that, all I need to do is fix a batten of wood (25x25x2000mm) to a window recess and I'm unsure of the correct approach...
Cheers!

- Is it required to drill holes, plug them, and then drive screws all the way through the batten?
- Are there screws available that will just drive through the batten and straight into the wall, if so, what are they called and can someone link me to them?
- Do I need a drill of a specific specification to drive straight into brickwork? I only have a 18v Cordless Combi at present which is perfectly good for 99% of things I do, struggles a bit with lintels though!
- Could no more nails it, but would like to at least try to do it right first
Cheers!
