Hi All,

So am replacing a pedestal sink and boy, did the installer of the old one like sealant!

I’ve cut around and tried to dig out as much as I can but would it be wise to put sealant remover down the back for any that a Stanley can’t reach?

I’ve checked and no missing bolts don’t worry, damn thing just doesn’t want to come off!

I have a really old and cheap carving knife I use for that and down the back of toilet cisterns, really thin and bendy blade. I have also had the instances where I just had to tell the client and eventually had to just lean on the basin and lever it off the wall and cut as it came away took some tiles with it.

It’s getting to a point where I have contemplated taking a sledgehammer to it and doing some tiling! Thanks all.

You'll only cut yourself on the shards!

Just been to one with same grief.
Made worse in that it was on a vanity unit so absolutely no need for a whole tube of gear down the back of it.

Took me twice as long as it should have!

I have a number of 4 inch filler knives that are extremely sharp. I use a hammer to tap them in to break the seal.
