I've fitted a Wastemaid waste disposal in place of an old Insinkerator and I'm finding that the sink is now draining very slowly. With the splash-guard fitted the 'plug-hole' aperture is much more restricted than before and once there is any water in the bottom of the sink it seems to become partially air locked with the water draining slowly and the occasional bubble of air coming up.
The sink is a small secondary sink with no overflow so I was wondering if I needed to provide a path for air to enter. The new outlet for the waste disposal looks like this one, with a little pipe on top:
I had assumed that the top bit was to allow air in but if I poke a screwdriver down there it seems to be blocked off. Am I supposed to open that up? It's not mentioned in the instructions.
