I've just added an SIP impact driver to my tool box. At the base of the handle there is a rotating knob with 4 preset positions marked, stangely enough, 1,2,3 & 4.

Can anyone tell me (unlike the manual) what these are for?

Thanks

It controls the torque output. 4 is highest, 1 the lowest.

Thought that might be the case. I realise they can't give accurate settings as its not to be used as a torque wrench, but some sort of guide would be handy. Is setting number2 10 ft lb? 50? 100? The manual says nothing....

Its more simple than that. It just restricts the air into the gun. So the output relies on more than what the dial is set to. Other things like the compressor air preasure and flow rate also come into it.

That makes good sense. I'd assumed that whatever the compressor puts out the gun would have a restriction of some sort to keep a constant mazimum pressure.

Assumption is the mother of all after all.

I guess its trial and expensive error. I'll experiment on the wifes car...
