I have a Skilsaw classic circular saw, but the screw that holds the fence in place has busted.... so the whole saw is ?? useless?

Have i a solution, or can you guys recommend a replacement?

What's the fence?

A single screw? You'll be able to replace that easily enough.

Yeah sorry, poor description in OP.

The guide fence has a perpendicular flat bar that slots through the base of the saw. It's held in place by a machine screw which tightens onto the flat bar.

The screw has ruined the thread in the hole it screws into. Therefore i can no longer clamp the fence in place.
You can get an idea from this pic:

Any thoughts on a decent circular saw to get?

Are you kidding? You want to throw away a good saw just for the sake of the fence?

Bigger screw - Tap - job done.

don't want to throw it away !

and i tried the self tapper... cut the end off with a pair of pliers (with safety goggles on)... and it does work a bit, but it can come loose at the most inappropriate moment....

Buy a sawtable* and use it as an, erm, sawtable!

(*upside down clampy thing for letting 'rip')

Or glue/weld a proper nut over the weakened hole. Then your machine screw will have all the bite it needs.
