skimming nightmare

ive basically made a balls of skimming a wall in my lounge, ive done a few smaller walls and rooms before and been ok but took to long getting the first coat of skim on this one and it got away from me. i managed to get this first coat levelled out ok in the end but thought it was prob to late to ut a 2nd on. do i have to leave this to dry out totally before having another go on it? and do i need to glue it before i re skim?

Scrape off what you can before it hardens and then when it is totally dry, PVA it and have another go.
