Skimming over deep artex

I live in an old terraced house (approx 100 yrs old) and the artex is horribly deep. Maybe 1cm in places.

To save costs I want to skim myself, as I've done a bit in the past.

As I'll be doing it on my own, is my thought process ok?

1.Scrape off the top edges of deep parts of artex (concerned it may have asbestos?)
2. 2 coats PVA and then a layer of plaster bond to smooth out the artex
3. 2 coats of multi finish skim. Would I need to let plaster bond fully dry and then apply PVA to thebthe before skimming, or can I apply multifinish while plaster bond is still wet?

if theres any doubt over the artex just leave it.
2 coats of neat pva . and leave it dry fully. some say bond over it when it’s tacky but i don’t.
personally I let the bonding dry fully then heavily pva it again , then skim.

if you can convince yourself that the artex is 80s or later.
scrape the high spots off , blue grit it all
and 2 coat multifinish or even 3 coat .
easier than the bonding option.

Definitely before the 80s so I will leave it

Ah ok so as follows:

1. 2 coats PVA (no water) both to let fully dry and then...
2. Plaster Bonding coat... And let fully dry
3. Do you add water to PVA cost on bond or just plain PVA?

i was going to give it a go (in the bathroom) but dont fancy it on the landing over the stairs, so thinking i might aswell get a plasterer in for what its worth now.

What can i expect to pay on two ceilings - probably overboard and skim if i get a plasterer in?
