I have just put up new skirting board and want to paint it with clear varnish. What I want to know where the miters meet and they are not 100 % perfect is there any fillers for this so it blends in ?

I was originally painting white so could hide the gaps well, is there any fillers what look like real wood and when varnished with the wood blend goo ?

Thanks

go for antique pine or light to medium oak as your new pine will mellow to antique pine in 2 year or so

if you use oil based varnish you will get a yellow tinge as the varnish ages

Just been reading on internet you can ake you own filler to get a exact match. You just mix the sawdust off the wood you have been using and a glue and you can use that. As it is off the wood it will be a exact match.

I can imagine this to work but anyone know how well ?

Never tried it but seems to make sense apart. Try it out by knocking up an inaccurate mitre using an offcut (you sound like you have an ability to do this   ) and using your bespoke filler.
