Skirting boards Fitting height

I have recently had some new skirting boards fitted. I seem to remember the old boards had a gap under them for the carpet to push under. These are pretty much on the floor. Is this going to create a problem when the new carpet is fitted?

there shouldn't be any gap when fitted the gap appears later as things shrink and settle

Oh thats good news! At least I know the carpet fitters arnt going to have any problems with them then.
