Skirting Boards

Hi guys

This is my first post so go easy on me

Can someone tell me, do you put skirting boards flat to the floor and run the new carpet upto them or leave a gap so the carpet goes under? I'm looking to replace my skirting first and then get a carpet fitter in, so i don't want to do it wrong

always skirting first
unless your doing a floating floor [laminate] which saves you having quadrant to finnish

over the years as fashions change and you have a gap its another job to do fill the gap or lower the skirting when you pollish the newly exposed floor boards
