Hello, last try before I get rid of the car .

My Skoda does this .
It's runs for about 10 miles then cuts out ,it won't restart straight away but if I leave it alone for 10 mins it starts and drives normally .
I have changed the battery as I was told it was that ,something to do with the immobiliser ?
I have changed the crankshaft sensor ,that didn't work .
I took it to a garage who replaced the tempreture sensor and then broke down again .I have just got the car back from them and they are saying they can't find the problem .

The Rac have scanned the car and it's showing no codes ,would anyone hazard a guess what's wrong with this ?
I don't want to get rid because it's nice car .
1.6 petrol
65000
Full service history .
Thank you .

Yes, tempreture guage is reading normal and the tempreture sensor was just replaced .

It's been with a garage for 4 days I'm assuming they would off ,can I check it with a multimeter ?

Hello Harry ,I haven't tried that ,ill give it a go .Could it really be something as simple as that ?
When it stops the engine just stops running ,but 10 mins later it starts again runs for about the same time then stops .

I have just ordered a new one.Thank you all for your replies ,ill let you know how I get on with a new filler cap .

A fairly typical camshaft position sensor problem (possibly of course).......for the cost, I’d replace that too.

Had a similar problem on our Golf a few years ago. AA came out, found nothing wrong but the patrolman put my car and the symptoms into the database on a laptop he had in the van and it came up with known faults on similar cars and prompted him to check the ignition/engine relay. Even told him where to find it and what the markings on it were (100 I think). We ran it for a while until it conked out again, gave the relay a tap and away it went again. He had an old standard relay in his spares box that got me home. A new relay from VW cost £9 I think. I would never had found it on my own. Diagnostics didn’t show it up either.

Hello, funnily enough that was the first thing I changed.Maybe I need to look at the connection in the fuse box .

Is that the sensor on the top of the engine ?bassically above the crankshaft position sensor .

I wasn't suggesting to just buy a new one, rather that it was something to try, as an easy bit of diagnostics.
