Went to order sky broadband for mother which requires a 12 months contract so asked what happens if my mother dies answer.

You can move your services to your new house

Installing Sky broadband in heaven OK it is after all it is "Sky", but what if she goes down, how do they install it in hell?

And have the installers ever talked about their visits to either place?

Of course if the worst happens her bank account will be frozen and the DDs won't be paid. Not your problem of course and sky can send their bailiff to heaven or hell.

Reminds me slightly of when my grandmother died in the late 70s. Mum phoned the guy she had been renting the TV off for many years, and told him he could pick it up. It was a small, very old B & W set, way past it's sell by date. Anyway she knew this bloke from when she worked in the radio and TV business herself in the 40s and 50s, he said to her that there was a month's rental owing on it. Mum told this bloke in no uncertain terms that if he wanted to collect the money, he could go and get it off my nan. End of conversation. :)

I have seen problems with cable in the past. My daughter had cable in Cambridge and when she tried to cancel when moving to Aberystwyth they told her at first it would be transferred there until they realised there was no cable there. So agreed to collect the box before she left. However they were late and my daughter did not know if she should leave or take the box. She did take it which was just as well as they asked for it back and sent her a pre-paid return box.

Should my mother go into a home then Sky will either have to transfer the broadband to the home or accept that it is no longer in use so there will be no payments I kept the transcript just in case.

The idea is I can use a pet cam to see how my mother is. Also it is hoped I can set up a PC with remote access so if she asks for a film I can select the film and get it playing from home.

I was rather surprised that the carelink still uses the land line. They assure me that leaving a phone off the hook will not stop it working. However I would have thought to do that it would need to be like the old fax machines where all phones when through the fax machine so once a fax was coming in it switched off all phones. However there is only a single telephone plug so can't see how it will work with phone off the hook.

They are to fit telecare which is seems has sensors to show which doors are opened etc. However still not using internet so can't really see how you will get live updates.
