will be connecting second tv to sky + box. have tried using coax cable with tv link. does not work. no signal. will be using a hdmi splitter with cable to second set. will the sky remote work on second set. thanks.

I don't think it will as I understand the sky remote signal gets passed back down the coax from the "eye" device that goes between the coax and the second tv
is the second tv fed from the rf2 socket?

does the eye light up when on the end of the new coax to the second tv it could be the cable

cant edit above post for some reason but somewhere in the dark recesses of what i call abrain i seem to recall that the "eye" power can be switched on/off on some boxes.
Lucid will know and will hopefully be along later to put us all right!

What TV?

Most have an analogue TV tuner in them. Have you done a first time install / factory reset with the TV link in place and $ky box ON?

A few TVs now don't have the analogue tuner enabled (Fire TV models IIRC) and have caught out people occasionally.

The hdmi splitters don't usually have magic eye capability but active hdmi over CAT5/6 cables sometimes do. The magic eye should send the IR back to the $ky box if the coax is left in place, with pictures and sound over hdmi. (Picture and sound will be far superior to the analogue pal SD / mono RF modulator, too.)

thats a good thought about no analogue tuner

have tried factory reset.with everything in place. new TV has three tuning options. aerial.cable. and analogue.get same message no signal.

I'd conclude the new TV is faulty... IF your old TV work on the same cable plugged into it, but not this new one. Make and model of TV may still be relevant.

Does the cable carry Freeview signals from an aerial, as well as the $ky box TV link (iO link?) signal?

However picture quality over hdmi (RGB and up to 1080 resolution, stereo sound) will make the hdmi worthwhile if it works for the length involved. hdmi cables can have a length issue.
