Not sure if this is the best place, ill find out soon enough.

I used to have a spare telly set up with a sky magic eye that allows you to watch and switch channels from another room. Long story short room got decorated, we lost the magic eye so now ive bought a replacement. All set up fine with pictures coming through but the remote isnt being picked up by the magic eye to change channels. the red light on the magic eye isnt on either. In the instructions it says to press the service button which throws up a menu. It then says to select option 4 and then option 0 (which isnt listed on the on screen menu) It states that this should bring up the installers menu, where the 2nd output can be activated. Trouble is i cant get the installers menu to come up, anyone any ideas??

then select rf outputs

need to toggle rf power outlet supply to "on"

be careful because there may be two rf outlets

one is switchable on and off

the other has no power, just carries the tv signal

yep thats what instructions say, im pressing 0 and no menu is coming up!

using remote on main TV ... press

services then 4 then 0 then 1 that should bring up installers menu chose RF outlets to see if its on if not highlight switch to on and save settings

check if light is on, on the magic eye if not, check cable connections making sure outer strands of cable are not touching inner copper rod

ah wasnt pressing select button. Got that was already set to on, still no joy, so either strands are touching or magic eye is duff (only a cheap version)

cheers chaps

i may be back!

Thermo.. to double check the magic eye, fit it stright into RF2 in the digibox without cable between, if red light comes then it must be problem with cable also treble check the eye..... cover the digibox and then try and change channels using the eye cheers P M

happy viewing :D

Im back!

Got the red light on now, faulty connection on the wall plate. Only trouble is its not reacting to the remote control. remote works on main box, so i think the eye may be up the spout.............unless you know different!

thanks so far chaps! ;)

if it works in the box Thermo its ok, magic eyes dont like wall plates or splitters etc its best if you only have just a cable run from box to tv I dont know if you know but the RF2 sends 9 volts thru the cable to the eye to make it work also try going on " digital spy" site its great for sky/tv problems P M

BTW try RF outlets again highlight it if it shows ON turn it to OFF save settings... wait 10 secs bring it up again turn it back ON save settings Ive tried that and it worked for me once !

Poshman back again!

Ive temporarily bypassed the face plate so ive just got the cable running from the box to the tv. Lights on, pictures perfect, but still wont change channels. Ive powered all the systems down and redone the rf2 supply on the installers menu. im guessing faulty eye unless any other suggestions.

Still its keeping mrs thermo fit running up and down the stairs to change the channels!

Still its keeping mrs thermo fit running up and down the stairs to change the channels! dont get her too tired before bedtime ;)

strange that  if the red light is on the magic eye that means the 9 volts is running thru the cable

did the eye change channels when you plugged it straight into the digibox :?:
