Slate Hearth on Exposed Floorboards

I've just installed a Slate hearth in readiness for my solid fuel stove going in. I have grouted between the different sections of slate but what do I use to seal the slate to the exposed floorboards?

Also, do I grout around the back where the slate meets the brick fireplace or do I use some kind of sealant there too?
