I currently have a paving stone patio and its been there for a good few years and was there when i moved in so don't know what's under it and wanting to change to a slate one now i know i have to lift the paving stones up now do i have to do a full mortar bed or spot it and do i have to dig down and re base it or should it be ok to go from what i have under it
