Apparently, according to the media, the flesh eating False Widow spider is rampant and causing hysteria and mayhem country wide.
Trained to attack the practical person without mercy or warning, we wonder how many of us will be alive in the morning......
Bon soir

The Guardian says " And, whatever we may worry about, this is one of the safest times to be alive, ever - as the chart below shows." Yet the chart show the death rate has risen by +0.4% on the year before. Perhaps not the safest of times then.

BTW, there's only one thing of which we can be certain in this life,,,,,,,, And that's ... One day we'll die. ;) ;)

Jock... my point was that in context, scary flesh eating spiders is so far down the list of risks to humans, that the particular rag was irrelavent !!

Tobacco kills around 100,000 per year, but idiots still carry on smoking. Who needs terrorism with figures like that.

"Did I just see a spider?"

"Shut up woman...and drink your coffee!"

And, what happened to the 'Flesh-eating' virus of a few years back that was going to wipe out the whole of the planet's population?

Got wiped out by the millenium bug.

There's always some impending disaster - global warming, global cooling, meteorites, flu pandemics, Dutch Elm, etc, etc. Spent most of my early years fearing that we could all be vapourised by the Ruskies. I was all set for a bit of Protect and Survive. Total waste of itme - we're all still here.
