Ok, I've got to build the mechanism for some sliding doors and I can't get my head around it. I figured I'd lock the two wood pieces into some kind of frame and have a curtain pull string style thing going on, but in my head I can see it all falling apart the first time I touch it. Also I'm not sure how pully curtains work, so if you know that'd be appreciated. Unless someones got a better way of doing it. Any ideas?

are you talking domestic propper doors for use in a house
a light weight prop or somthing inbetween and whats your budget!!! ;)

Not a star trek fan but if you are wanting a pair of doors that slide back into a wall then have a look at the Eclisse pocket door gear, you can get it from Ironmongery Direct, you can get a kit that links the two dors together so they open at the same time.

Beam me up, Jason

It's for a set rather than a house. Those pocket doors look interesting, although the mechanism still escapes me. :s
I think it's going to be cheaper if I make it all from scratch rather than buy a pre-made set, but their frame designs look a good place to start.

You can also knock up a microswitch, MP3 player & little amp to make it go "whoosh" as it's open/closed :D
