Slow-filling toilet, SIAMP fittings

Hi,

So, I have a problem with my toilet...

Essentially, the cistern has suddenly become extremely slow-filling. I think it's even filling too slowly to put enough pressure on the flush mechanism to close it, so what little water is coming in just dribbles through to the bowl. I'm currently re-filling it with a bucket...

The water is spraying out of the inlet in a tiny jet at quite high pressure, as you can hopefully see in this pic and this pic.

I've done a bit of a search, and I think the inlet valve is one of these. The fittings are definitely made by SIAMP anyway.

I have no idea how this inlet valve is supposed to work, so could it just be blocked up a bit inside? Is water even supposed to be coming out of where it's coming from?

Any ideas/advice much appreciated!

The disc on top can be removed, as can the float arm. There may be debris keeping either open. Remove and clean, reassemble.

Undo the nut at the top of the float arm & underneath that you will find a membrain washer that will have a tiny split in it, replace that with a new one from B&Q & it's problem solved.

Thanks to both of you for the quick replies, but keego had the perfect answer I think: split washer.

Looks like I need one of these. I can't see them on the B&Q website, will they still have them in store?

I've checked the B&Q website and my local B&Q store. Neither have the SIAMP bottom inlet valve COMPACT 98B diaphragm washer.

when I looked at the link for the washer picture, it had the URL

Toiletparts were asking over twelve pounds which seems a bit steep. I found www.toiletspares.co.uk selling them for under seven pounds including postage.

I am sure this is the solution but struggling to find "the nut at the top of the float arm"
Could anyone out there be kind enough to show me a picture of where this nut is because I cannot find it

Then I can undo it, take the washer out go to b & q buy a replacement and fit it.

also in case you didn't know please be sure to isolate the water supply first, sorry to sound patronising but sometimes things like this don't occur to some folk.

Fitted new washer as mentioned by Keego £2.78p from B and Q

I have the same problem. I had taken it all apart and found nothing wrong. But with thanks to Keego 's advice I re-took it apart and found a split in the washer, will replace! THANKS

Same problem, I identified the mechanism from the photo, thanks. A new washer coast £2.30, inc postage, on ebay.

I have just signed up to this wonderful site but solved the problem myself beforehand by replacing the seal as recommended. However, be careful. I decided whilst I had the value float arm and head apart I would give it a quick clean up as well. Just beneath the float arm lever is what appears to be a clear silicon rubber 'bung'. ( I discovered this on the second toilet when replcaing the seal) This dropped out and was lost without me realising. I have tried to find a replacement but without luck. Unless I find a suitable replacement it appears a complete valve is the only option!
