hi all, last year had a freezer go down in the garage due to the cold weather, so have bought a small chest freezer, to protect it from the cold have thought about putting polystyrene sheets around it and on top but leaving a gap between them and the chest, what do you think !!! cheers mick

NO! You need air space round the freezer to enable it to work. Is there a way you can increase the temperature in the garage? There needs to be a difference in temp of about 5 degrees( i think) to enable the evaporator to do its job.

Leave a freezer in an ice cold garage and the thing goes into overdrive and can defrost. This has happened to me a few years ago and i lost a fridge full of food. There has to be enough temp for the heat exchanger to do its job.
