Small cracks in bricks - anything to worry about?

Hi,

I have recently bought and moved into a new house. We had a full survey done and the surveyor gave the “external walls and brickwork” the top rating. Since moving in, I have noticed a few cracks in some of the bricks. As far as I can see, none or very few of the cracks extend the full length of the brick, and there doesn’t seem to be any that extend through multiple bricks.

I’ve attached a couple of photos with measurements. Are these anything to be concerned about? If not necessarily concerning, should I be looking into filling or otherwise treating the affected bricks?

Probably there when the bricky laid them. Not a concern.

There is a standard for clay bricks, BS 771-1, and this covers the acceptable amount and type of fissures and other defects.

Whilst a few are not significant, many in many bricks may not be to the permitted quality.

Contact the manufacturer's rep, or an independent surveyor if there are a significant amount of these bricks and you are concerned.

In that case there's nothing to worry about. Stocks often have a few cracks in them. When you are working for a subbie you don't have time to sort every brick out. There's no sign of any spalling in 30 years.
