Hi - new poster and new to decorating!

Spent yesterday stripping the heavily embossed swirly wallpaper off the bedroom walls and am now left with 2 walls that have quite few very fine cracks! Am worried that having used a steamer that I may have damaged the plaster (have been reading some of the other forum messages).

I was hoping to prep the walls and then emulsion over them but I guess now I had best look at lining then first? Would you think this is the best route?

Thanks :)

Not for someone new to decorating ;) just get some ready mixed fine filler and fill the cracks . And make sure you`ve washed ALL the paste residue off the walls before you paint

Thanks for the reply.

If there are alot of cracks though would it not be advisable to have a go at lining?

If your new to decorating don't try lining paper, you will not be happy with the outcome if you've not done it before. As Nige f posts, fill and sand but if it is that bad you could consider re- skimming the walls.

Depends how much time you have - I spent 2 days filling all round a room ( 15x15 foot) @ my last house because I couldn`t be arsed with the mess of skimming - My son`s a plasterer  - or even lining , which my old dad taught me ( he was a decorator ) And the finish with 2 coats of quality Matt emulsion was fine ;) I used Red Devil pre mixed lightweight filler
