Apologies if this has already been covered.
I have just fixed a leak that has soaked through some plaster. The hole in the plaster is only about 1 ft x 1ft. The pipe was boxed in, its this boxed in area that I need to repair, there is therefore no bricks, just a hole with wood either side.
So how would I tackle this?? Please note I am a novice, so any replies in easy to understand language.
Thanks in advance.

Hard to understand what you mean, can you post up a picture? Sounds like you can screw a piece of plasterboard back, tape over the joins and fill over the joins with 'easy fill' but hard to be sure from your description sorry.

Basically, a downpipe from the bathroom comes down into the kitchen. Its in the corner of the room which is boxed in with plasterboard. Has wooden battons to which I would assume the plasterboard has been screwed onto.
Hope this makes more sense.
Your answer seemed fine, never knew there was tape for the joints, is it called anything fancy or just plaster tape??

well in that case you can use self adhesive plasterboard tape which is a fibreglass mesh about 2" wide. score the existing plasterboard about an inch in from the edge and pick off the skim, then bridge the new and old plasterboards with the tape and plaster in the section of the new board.

Thanks for the advice.
Regards the actual plaster, its only a small area, therefore dont want to buy loads. Can you get small kits for small jobs??
