I'm currently sorting my loft out. The roof is slated with back-pointing. I've been having a good look at the timbers and noticed one batten only, which appears to exhibit wet rot over about 1' of its length. Obviously I am not going to have the whole house re-roofed, however I would like to prevent this rot from spreading into the adjoining rafters.
I've improved the airflow in the roofspace to help provide better ventilation by removing lagging from the eaves/over the tops of the wall cavities.
Can anyone recommend a repair for the batten - either application of a chemical or some such compound to prevent the rot spreading?
Thanks in anticipation
