Well, after years and years with Three, I have ported my number to Smarty, who is owned by Three.
I was impressed by the fact they offer the same features as Three, which a lot of MVNOs don't.
Like, WiFi calling, 5G, free roaming.
But much cheaper prices, while still only having only a 1 month contract.
I was paying a tenner for 4GB and a 1 month contract with Three
I am now paying 8 quid per month to Smarty for 12GB.
We went out for a meal and me and son number 2 were comparing signals. He, like his brothers, is still with Three.
He told me he had a 5G signal. I did not. We both have 5G phones with bands 77 and 78, which I believe are the two used in the UK for 5G mobile reception
He could get a full complement of bars on this 5G signal and a download speed of 300.
I only got 4G, and a lowly 76 upload speed.
Smarty advertise as offering 5G when it is available in any area.
But not there .....
If this persists I shall have word with them as to why this is happening and if it is a widespread issue, I will swap back..
I got 5G with the same phone when on Three. If they say it's part of the deal, you should be able to get it.
