Smeg Dishwasher D16MAX electrical problem

Hi,
My Smeg dishwasher has power (the inside light comes on) but the control panel does not light up. Any quick fixes out there ?

The only experience of dishwashers that I have was a similar problem to yours, but not sure if the same cause. It was a machine that had the control panel on the front door & there was a broken wire in the harness at the point where it entered the machine body. The constant opening & closing of the door had flexed the harness & broken one of the wires.
