Snapped Drill Bit

My ex wife lost her key for the front door, you need the key to turn the barrel about 30 degree, so I decided to drill the barrel.

Well, the drill bit snapped!!!!!

Any suggestions on how to get it out, please

Whay do you want to get it out. It's knackered anyway.

Buy a new barrel.

need to get it out so I can drill through the barrell

This is so all the pins inside will drop out and I can turn it about 30 degrees with a screwdriver which will allow me to remove the barrel and put a new one in........hopefully

can you get any puchase on the bit?you could try some pliers and gentley turn it?

Can't get any purchase on it, but after more investigation into these Euro Locks shows me they can be snapped. I hope it saves me a few hours of frustration!!!!

Drill from the other side?

If it were a simple matter of drilling holes and walking into the house - then the locks would be useless. The pins are hardened.

ake handles off and if enough of the barrel is showing put some locking grips on it and snap it prob solved

Easy, took off the handles, wedged one side with a screw driver and tapped the other with a hammer and snap, cheers for the replys
