LOL. I have not seen a bee since August so can't check any nests .... so perhaps that is also a sign of winter - that they have migrated?

I predict unpredictable weather, with a good chance of some cold days and nights being winter and all

Dunno about you all down there in uber-mild England but up here we are looking like being hit very soon. According to some websites, as early as the 7th Dec.
That's a marked improvement on last year mind, where we had 9" fall on the 19th Nov.

Anyone have any idea what the Gulf Stream is doing this year? Last year it was almost across Northern Portugal IIRC.
