Soffit vent mesh. Is it worth it?

Hi,

Getting new fascias/soffits fitted to the house soon and was wondering if its worth putting a wire mesh on the inside of the continuous soffit vent to prevent insects entering the loft. Does this not impede air flow?

Any advice would be appreciated.
