Can anyone please tell me the reasons why soft solder fittings cannot be used on oil supply lines (only compression fittings or the flayered type) when they can be used on gas supply lines? Thanks
i thought it was to do with oil reacting with the solder, but was advised it was in case there was a fire and the solder melted, someone will advise of the real reason
Both of those I suspect, but at the end of the day "thats how it is" like it or not!! What I would say is a gas pipe rupured in a fire is less of a problem than an oil pipe due to calorific values and volumes etc
