Softener dispensing

Could someone help me answer this question? I have a Hotpoint aquarius washing machine about 3 years old which works fine. During the rinse cycle the softener gets dispensed quite early on. I thought that the softener should be dispensed on the very last rinse just before the final spin. Is this correct?

Yes you are right. It should. Check the dispenser to see if the siphon is situated properly. Also - and this might sound right daft - check it's not going in a bleach compartment. Some washers have a bleaching compartment next to the softener one!

I have the same machine and got the same problem... mine was due to a build up of softener, this caused the conditioner to syphon out right at the beginning. Take the drawer out and wash frequently

Thanks Honza, checked the syphon tube to find it totally blocked. Cleaned it out and just did a load of washing. Works just fine now.
