Soil pipe collapse (pics included)

Hi chaps, I dug away around one the bottom of one of my cast iron soil pipes and found that the old clay pipe that connects to the down soil pipe had come away and the rest of the pipe had dropped letting lots of lovely raw sewerage run under the house

My plan was to dispense with the straight piece of clay pipe that is currently dropping down towards the black soil pipe (even I know sh1t should run downhill) and get a new 90 degree bend to fit to the bottom of the black soil pipe and a plastic straight section to connect to the flared coller of the pot pipe just visible on the left of the pic.

My problem is that when I look on Screwfix they don't mention diameter. Is all soil pipe the same diameter ?Regardless of what it is made from ?

Any tips / links to the correct stuff would be appreciated.

I do have to say that I dont know what that old c.i. pipe is meant to connect to.

Nor do I know where that s.g. pipe goes to either!

I do have to say that Screwfix and Wickes are primarily for DIY whereas serious drainage is best represented by the traditional builders merchants like Travis Perkins and possibly City Plumbing.

The only problem is that they dont understand pricing and you can have serious problems over the prices they quote.

There are rubber sleeves withg Jubilee clips to join different pipes of generally similar diameters.

Strictly only stainless steel Jubilee clips should be used underground but they are about 10 times the price of the cadmium plated ones!

Tony the clay pipe should be rising upward towards the black soil pipe where it should meet a 90 degree (or thereabouts) bend up to the black soil pipe.

Obviously in my pic above the 90degree bend is missing and the straight piece of clay pipe you see has dropped down rather than angled up toward the black pipe.

So, are all pipes the same diameter ?

Better off with the O.D - it`ll be around 4 inches

Some of the DIY places do have a Fernco style rubber coupler probably at about £11 or less.

There are a very wide range of sizes available but sadly not many are actually stocked widely!

Wickes may sell what you need. http://www.wickes.co.uk/clay-to-pvcu-drain-adaptor/invt/430042/ It should take you from the Salt Glazed to 110mm plastic. Use a 90deg rest bend at bottom of the stack, might even be lucky and find the Wickes part will fit the Cast Iron as well.

As an avid collector of wheelbarrows, can you please confirm what model you have?? Is it the MK2 R60 or the R52 with the hard rubber wheel & yellow hand grips? Going by your photo, it does look quite dejected, do you not store it indoors??!!

Looking at the tread of the tyre, I would say that it has a Winter tyre fitted, to be used between Nov-March. Not ideal for Summer time use.
