Morning all
Currently looking at putting an ensuite into my main bedroom.
Unfortunately it's on the opposite side of the house from the waste/soil pipes and the manholes. Just to explain further, if you stand facing the house, all the waste is on the right hand side. The bedroom in question is on the left hand side.
I've had a couple of plumbers/bathroom fitters round and one has said the best solution is a Saniflo as building a new soil and hooking it up with the current waste would be very expensive (£8k he reckoned).
After I'd managed to get up off the floor plumber number 2 came round. Saniflos are a nightmare he says and the right thing to do without question is a new soil etc. He reckons about £2k for the work.
First guy it would seem just didn't fancy the extra work involved?
Anyways, I'm thinking that I should get more quotes and I'm also keen to get round a waste pipe specialist to get their view on complexity and cost. Question is, what's the name of the trade that would actually specialise in putting in a new soil and tying up with the existing waste? Is there such a thing as a drain layer?
I don't really want to start a debate on the merits of Saniflo. Seems to evoke a love/hate response and my inclination is to avoid it.
Thoughts and views much appreciated.
Thanks
Gary
